Q   What is the difference between style and period?
A   A style can be an antique or it could have been made yesterday. "Period" means that the piece was made during the "period" when that particular king, queen or ruler was in power. The design of a piece was influenced by the time period of that ruler and his ministry. Ask the approximate "Circa" (year) that the piece you are looking at was made. This way you learn a little more about its history and can enjoy visualizing how the piece was used and its surroundings!
